Facebook Sales Strategies | Episode 74

“Facebook is working on a stand alone mobile news application, how does is effect you?”

In this episode, Kim informs us about a mobile news app in the works by Facebook, possibly for the Business Initiative. Kim thinks in maybe somewhat similar to LinkedIn’s Pulse application.

Here are a few details about the app:

  • It is going to be a standalone app.
  • Facebook is going to pilot the app, with a  few companies.
  • You will be about to sign-up with Facebook for the new feed.

According to Business Insider from the UK, the app is in the alpha testing stage. The Business Insider reports, that users will then choose partnering publications they want to follow, including topics, stations and sub-stations. Furthermore, Facebook has chosen only a few companies to partner with, and when there is breaking new theses companies can create mobile notifications as fast as any “Tweet.”

The mobile alerts allow for 100 characters of text,  a URL to the new article, or the publication website. Interestingly, one can’t repost, you can only create content for yourself. This app is specifically for work,  and lets you have only few characters.   Kim mentions this app is taking the best of Twitter and LinkedIn Pulse,  and tying it all together.

Kim shares that when you are creating a content plan, like  email, news letter,  or any kind content. To make sure to include Facebook into the mix, because this is the way people are getting their information.
